Garry Moore: Director

Garry has an MA in Film Production and is a multi-award-winning writer, director and producer of 40 short films including 6 Best Film Awards and 2 Winning Script Awards. His films have screened at international film festivals and even at a United Nations funded event in Mumbai, India. His multi award winning short ‘No Honour No Choice’ also won its star, Pooja Shah, Bend it Like Beckham, a Best Actress Award.

His directorial feature debut, the thriller ‘Melanie’s Grave’, is expected to be released in 2021. Produced through his own company, S.H.A.M. Films, the film stars UK actor Rachel Meredith as the girl with a dark past who is held captive in her own home by a wounded armed robber played by James Trenholme, who gets more than he bargained for from his hostage.

He has produced content for Endemol, The National Lottery and many organisations such as Northern Film & Media, Barnardo’s, Age Concern, The BME Network, The North East Regional Alcohol Forum, The AV Festival, The Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, BankART 1929 Gallery in Japan and New York and has broadcast credits for The National Lottery Xtra Channel, Propeller TV and The Community Channel.

Garry is also one of a handful of select directors from around the world who were commissioned by Hood Up Films in Ireland to be part of the horror feature film anthology ‘Creepy Stories For The Dark’, a collection of horror stories with worldwide distribution, due for release in 2021. His section is called ‘The Tree Witch’.

Garry also production managed the three film crews at the prestigious AV Festival in 2006 in his native northeast England. An event which spanned two weeks and played host to international artists, musicians and film makers from around the world. In 2009 he was one of 25 film makers chosen from around the UK to attend the week long Think-Shoot-Distribute course which was part of the Times London Film Festival. Also in 2009 he was one of 15 writers selected for ‘Pitch Up’ who pitched an idea for a TV drama to a panel at Channel 4 in London.

In 2013 he was selected for the Film Business Boot Camp run by DigitalCity in Middlesbrough, delivered by Steve Bowden ‘School for Seduction’ of Vita Nova Films. The course also had guest lecturer Keith Bell, producer of ‘Harry Brown’ starring Michael Caine, mentoring him for a short time. He has also worked extensively in TV and Film in different roles on productions such as the Oscar winning ‘Atonement’ with Kiera Knightly, ‘Flutter’ with Ricky Tomlinson, ‘Downton Abbey’, ‘Beowulf’, ‘The Last Kingdom’ and many others including the BAFTA nominated short film ‘Jade’. His Youtube and Vimeo channels, which include the short film ‘Skin’ starring Jade Thirlwell of girl band ‘Little Mix’, have over to 140,000 views to date.
